cm. At head of the title, in Hebrew: Torah, Nevi'im, v'Ketuvim. The First
Complete Hebrew Bible Printed in America. One of the milestones of the
Bible in America. Rosenbach, American Jewish Bibliography 171, Shaw &
Shoemaker 30857. This issue has an unpointed text. Tree calf, 5 raised
bands, gilt crossing lines and inset contrasting labels for volume no. and
title. The volume number is green calf, and the title label is red morocco.
The binding on volume 1 is a modern copy of that on volume 2 which is
original. All of the different kinds of gilt tooling in the original, such
as the outward pointing gilt star surround, on the title label have been
copied in the modren binding. There is one difference. The modern binding
is not in "tree calf" The ownership label of Job Scott is on the inner
board at the rear of volume II, where the Hebrew title page is found. The
texts are clean, tight and unfoxed. Fine, bindings Vey Good plus. $5750.00
