(Venice: Albertino do Lissona. May 4, 1503). Folio. ff.452,(9). Index. Lacking the 
final blank leaf. Title with the large woodcut arms of Cardinal Pallavicini, 
colored in red by a cont. hand. Illustrated throughout with 4 full-page woodcuts 
and 89 views, large & small, of cities. Early vellum covered by a double 
column manuscript leaf, rubricated in red & blue, soiled. Title leaf and text with 
some old soiling & occasional stains. Some early annotations.     $10,000.00

The first 16th century edition of this important historical chronicle (the 
first printing is 1483; the first to be illustrated is 1486), here with the text 
continued to the year 1502. The 1503 printing is the first edition of “
Bergomensis” to contain the earliest compiled account of Columbus’ first 
discoveries. Sabin 25083, states, “We believe this to be the earliest considerable 
recognition of that important discovery by any general author.” Also an important
