volume). 4to. Each vol. approx. 600pp. Illustrated with numerous engraved plates,
many folding, and portraits. Orig. calf, rubbed, some outer hinges cracked, but
sound. 4 of the volumes with loose covers needing rebacking. $2,000.00

The journal of the Imperial German Academy of Natural Science (or Leopoldina)
began in 1670, the volumes first being titled “Miscellanea Curiosa.” The
research by members of the Academy, particularly in the fields of medicine and
natural history, were first printed in this journal. Long runs are quite
uncommon. See the NLM, 18th century, p. 2.
