Moore (Thomas) & Ayres (William P.) THE GARDENERS' 
MAGAZINE OF BOTANY, HORTICULTURE, FLORICULTURE, 
AND NATURAL SCIENCE, A complete set of the three volumes 
published.
3 volumes, large 8vo (266 x 190 mm), additional lithographic title 
page in volume 1, 101 fine hand coloured plates, 11 uncoloured 
plates, many wood-engravings in the text, each page of text printed 
within a decorative border, half green morocco titled gilt on the 
spines and with additional gilt decoration on the raised bands, 
green cloth sides, silk place markers in each volume, all edges gilt, 
edges of the back rubbed and corners worn, the contents and 
plates are in fine condition and are entirely free of foxing.
Owing to the high cost of production the Gardeners' Magazine ran 
for only two years, the editors noting in their preface to the third 
volume, '...that the professional gardener, to whom they more 
particularly addressed themselves, did not always possess the 
means of spending his monthly half-crown on one periodical, 
however high his appreciation of it might be.'
