Humphreys of Edeym. This work, a devotional which taught how to live the 
true Christian life, was also used by the Covenant movement. The complete 
original title in English was:  The Christian in compleat armour; or, A 
Treatise of the Saints war against the Devil, wherein a discovery is made 
of that grand enemy of God and His people, in his policies, power, seat of 
his empire, wickednesse, and chief design he hath against the saints, a 
magazin open'd from whence the Christian is furnished with spiritual armes 
for the battel, help't on with his armour, and taught the use of his 
weapon, together with the happy issue of the whole warre.  First Welsh

published by D. Jenkins] 1842. xii, 202 Pp., 18.5 cm. Quarter calf, gilt, 
titled and decorative spine, gilt owner's name on calf over front board 
"John James 1847." First collected edition of the works of one of the most 
respected 18th century Welsh poets. He was most active in the 1760s. "With 
a memoir by D. Owen `Brutus'." Includes a list of subscribers.  Unlocated 
at COPAC, OCLC, but there are copies at the Welsh National Library. Front 
blank and last leaf of subscribers list removed.~Binding worn, small repair 
to foot of spine, TP and some pages grimy as though turned by a not very 
clean hand, OW Very Good. $500.00

sheets, including the title page. Libri Walliae no 2836, Unnoted at OCLC, 
COPAC. A sermon connecting God's rescue of Noah with the later rescue of 
men by Christ. BOUND WITH: OES LYFR YN DAIR RHAN : yn cynnwys I. Côf lyfr 
ysgrythurol; II. Am frenhinoedd y Bruttaniaid a thywysogion Cymru; III. Am

is to be found ""Llythyr at y Darllenydd". Lacking the title page, but with 
the poetic introduction[loose]. This was first published in 1724, this is 
the Second Edition, several further, later editions noted. Unnoted at OCLC, 
COPAC copy at the Welsh Na. Lib. only; Libri Walliae 5278. BOUND WITH

advertisement for Halleluia on P. 24, totals 11 lines. 3. Jones, Robert 
1745-1825.:BOUND WITH:  LLYTHYR A DDANFOANWYD AT WR URDDASOL.  Argraphwydd 
yn y Flwyddyn 1772. 24 Pp. The author was a Calvinistic Methodist preacher 
and author born in Caernarvonshire in north-west Wales. It first appeared 
under the title "Ymddiffyn Crist'nogol". Later editions are entitled 
"Lleferydd yr asyn". "Libri Walliae" suggests that "Llythyr" may have been 
printed by Richard Marsh at Wrexham.  Libri Walliae 3064. Unnoted at OCLC, 
COPAC, BL.  BOUND WITH Anon. SIAMPLAU OFNADWY DUW, AR DROSEDDWYR: Neu, 
Wirionedd a neillduol (EXAMPLES OF THE AWFULNESS OF GOD TO THE OFFENDER An 
unusual  New Truth.)  Hanes am JOHN WILLIAMS,... Ynghyd A Hanes William 
Reeves, Yr hwn Grogwyd yn Dorchester  ",  Mwythig Agraphyd tros Jon Lewis. 
(Pris Ceiniog). [1785] 8 Pp., [complete] 18 cm., of which the account of 
William Reeves is a part, is Libri Walliae, 5338. The Welsh National 
Library has only a photographic copy. Unnoted in OCLC, COPAC, BL.. This 
anonymous work is possibly based on material in contemporary English 
chapbooks or ballads. The group are bound in calf, untitled, binding rubbed 
and worn, lacking 2 inches of the backstrip. $750.00

6.	Wynne, Ellis:  GWELEDIGSETHEU Y BARDD CWSC. Y RHAN GYNTAF. [The VISIONS 
OF THE SLEEPING BARD] J. Eddowes: Y Mwythig, 1768. 12o., 102, [1 ] 
Pp.  This work is a prose and verse allegory in three sections, each 
closing with a poem; originally published, London, 1703,  possibly 
suggested by Quevedo's Visions, ergo a work of religious mysticism. "The 
greatest of Welsh prose classics"--Dict. nat. biog., v. 63.    There is a 
copy of this edition at the BL, [none earlier] but their copy lacks the 
final page of Ads for Eddowes publications, and is cut close. There were 
however two further earlier editions prior to ours in 1759 and 1767. Libri 
Walliae, 5589,  see Jones, Printing in Wales, P. 8, 10.  Welsh Nat. Lib. 
Has 2 copies. OCLC notes two locations of a 1767 edition, none 
earlier,  one at Brown, and one at Univ. College in Swansea, but gives no 
condition details; unnoted by COPAC, Bodleian has no copy earlier than 
1886, Not at Melvyl, Mirlyn, HRH, Harvard has no copy earlier than 1825. 
Original ¼ calf, marbled boards, Front hinge cracked, a Very Good copy. $775.00
