The sensational impeachment trial arising from Judge Hardy's
alleged association with the flamboyant, young female evangelist,
Aimee Semple McPherson, resulting in his acquittal and, indirectly,
in the formation of the California Judges Association.

An unusually cast work by Noy, attorney general and one of the
finest lawyers of his day, numbering Hale and Maynard among his
pupils, with a first part in question and answer format, and a
second expository; with a prefatory account of Noy's life.

of The very many Mischeifs and Inconveniences which will
unavoidably happen by the Needless, Chargeable, and Destructive way
of Registries Proposed to be erected in every County [etc.]. Wing

quite worn, the binding somewhat strained, ex-library, considerable

Part of the centuries' long debate on land registration in England,
reaching an apogee in 17th century England, written by "the sturdy
loyalist and student of records" (in Holdsworth's words), with much
on Dutch, Scots and Spanish practice.

One of the most unusual works to arise from the decades-long
litigation between the Church and Mexico, written by the lawyer
largely responsible for the Church's victory at The Hague in 1902,
and sought to be suppressed by his heirs after his death.

The first issuance of the second (and best) edition of a classic,
the 'opus mirabile' which remains the starting point in the study
of medieval English law, written largely by Maitland in his
luminous style.

The effective contribution of Richmond, "an eccentric but credible
clergyman", to the downfall of the powerful New York bishop
Benjamin T. Onderdonk, tried and suspended for "immorality and
impurity" (including drunkeness and familiarity with women).

First edition of one of the pre-eminent treatises of 20th century
Anglo-American law, called by Holdsworth "a very learned and a very
important book" and enlarging upon the Restatement on Trusts for
which Professor Scott had served as reporter.

constitutional law, highly regarded by Maitland, who adjudged that

its author, Samuel Warren, the 19th century Inner Temple barrister
