TRANSCONTINENTAL TRAIL. THE STORY OF A MOTOR TRIP. San
Francisco: Privately Printed 1919. First Edition. Thin
quarto (8-1/8" x 11-1/2") bound in original plain boards
with thin linen spine on which is a printed paper label.
Copy #214 of 250, the entire edition, printed by John Henry
Nash. Illustrated with a large folding map and twelve
collotypes from photographs, ten of which contain three
different images. Scarce narrative of an early cross-country
trip by automobile in a 1913 Packard beginning in Pasadena
and ending in Colorado Springs, having traversed Arizona and
New Mexico, with much detailed observations on the landscape
and the Native American population. This copy additionally
INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author in 1919 to noted Arctic
explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson, author of MY LIFE WITH THE
ESKIMOS and other titles. Front hinge splitting at top and
bottom but still tight; light wear and rubbing. Very Good
and quite scarce. $850.00
